Repair Roller On-Site – Damaged Ceramic-Coated Roller Repair
Ceramic-coated hot oil transfer roller repair ends up saving tens of thousands of dollars.
Repair Damaged Roller
A customer in the nonwovens industry experienced everyone’s worst equipment nightmare – a tool fell into the roller assembly causing significant damage to their ceramic-coated hot oil transfer roller.
Disassembling the entire assembly would not only cause significant work stoppage delays but also lead to additional time-consuming set-up and reassembly.
To make matters worse, replacing the roller would be a major expense on top of the lost work hours.
Thankfully, Martin Solutions Group has decades of experience providing service for rollers that can be repaired rather than replaced. In this specific instance, after researching the equipment involved, we also believed the roller could be repaired on-site rather than sending it away for refinishing. Reconditioning this roller saved the customer time, money, and labor.
Ceramic-Coated Roller Repaired
Not only did the job save money when compared to a roller replacement, but the entire repair was able to be completed during the customer’s previously scheduled maintenance outage.
The end savings totaled tens of thousands of dollars just for the roller resurfacing, and several thousand more in avoidable production losses.
Some of the unique specifications for this project included:
- Inspection of the roller face and existing coating system
- Coordination with a preferred Vendor to identify the best quality solution with minimal inconvenience or stoppage
- Specialty bonding formula to coat the roller’s damaged surface
- Ceramic repair overlaid on bonding coat while the roller was in place
